San Tai San 2008 - Hoopin' it up in Little Tokyo!
|

(Photos Courtesy LTSC/Victor Lazo)
May 17 - Boys and girls from throughout Los Angeles came out to the
heart of Little Tokyo for a daytime street hoops showdown! Teams
from as far as Pasadena, South Bay, Monterey Park, and Boyle Heights
competed in the Little Tokyo Fun Fest tournament in support of the Rec
Center. Local basketball heroes Natalie Nakase, Jamie Hagiya,
Britt Sumida, and Allison Taka inspired our young athletes not
only to play hard but also be a part of the community.
Thank
you to Morgan Stanley, PCSC, Spicy Brown, and Washington Mutual for
sponsoring the tournament! A special thanks to all of our donors
and volunteers, as well as all the participating teams.

Omega Sigma Tau - Hip Hop Battle for the Rec Center
|

The Little Tokyo Rec Center recognizes and gives thanks to UCLA
fraternity Omega Sigma Tau, who recently donated $2,500 to the
campaign! The Omegas raised funds from their third annual "Battle
Royale", held on May 30. The competition featured local hip-hop
dance crews as well as star performers recently featured on MTV's
"America's Best Dance Crew". Earlier in the month, fraternity
brothers also took time out to volunteer at the 2008 San Tai San. Thank
you Omega Sigma Tau!
The
Omega Sigma Tau fraternity was founded in 1966 by members of the Nisei
Bruins Mens Club. Since its inception, the fraternity has given back to
the local community through volunteerism and philanthropy while
participating in UCLA campus life. In 2005, the Omegas adopted
LTSC's Recreation Center as their official philanthropy organization,
bringing the fraternity back to its roots in community sports leagues.
