Boys show their skillz on the streets of Little Tokyo at San-tai-San 2000. Imagine if they had an actual gym to play in!

We got game...
but no gym!

Basketball has long been a unifying force within the Japanese American community. What better place to play and mingle with friends and family than Little Tokyo? San Tai San, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament for kids ages 8-13, provides this opportunity.

Three years ago the JACCC added San Tai San to their Children's Day Celebration line-up to draw more families to Little Tokyo. Girls and boys get to play basketball, demonstrate their prowess on the court in a Skillz Competition, and interact with Natalie Nakase of UCLA Women's Basketball and Lindsey Yamasaki of Stanford Women's Basketball, all while experiencing local JA culture at Children's Day.

And, participating in San Tai San is not just fun – it shows the importance and need for a gym in Little Tokyo. For thirty years the Little Tokyo and Southern California JA communities have
yearned for gym in the Little Tokyo. A group of concerned citizens have been actively seeking a site for the past 5 years. Unfortunately, we have yet to secure one, leaving San Tai San
out on the streets. Your participation in San Tai San demonstrates the need for the Little Tokyo Recreation Center.

Check-in and warm-up starts at 9:30am Saturday, May 12th. The tournament begins at 11am. Each team plays a minimum of 2 games. Prizes will be presented in each age bracket.
Rules will be provided upon registration.
